Most car park CCTV looks fine on the wall and fails at the moment it matters: the incident happened in a dark corner between cameras, the entry shot is a headlight flare, or retention rolled over before the tenant reported the damage. The FM ends up writing to an insurer with nothing to attach.
We design backwards from that day. Choke points — ramps, boom gates, pedestrian doors, lift lobbies — get identification-grade coverage; decks get overview; retention is set to the building’s policy and checked, not assumed; and camera health is monitored so a dead camera is a work order this week, not a discovery during an investigation. Usually, yes — and often with placement as much as hardware. Car parks are hard lighting environments: headlights, bright ramp mouths, dark deck corners. We position cameras with the lighting in mind and use models with wide dynamic range and genuine low-light performance from platforms such as AXIS, Hanwha Vision and Bosch, so entries are readable instead of silhouettes.
In most cases. We interface readers and controllers to the existing gate or door operator, and where the operator itself is at end of life we’ll tell you before you spend money integrating with it. Vehicle entries on egress or fire paths are coordinated with our accredited fire partners where required.
With a properly set up system, in minutes — searched by camera and time, exported with the metadata insurers and police expect. We set retention to the building’s policy, train your team on retrieval, and monitor camera health under a managed agreement so the footage exists when you go looking for it.
That’s how we plan them. Work is staged bay-by-bay and level-by-level, cabling runs happen after hours or in low-occupancy windows, and tenants are notified before any bays are temporarily out of use. The car park keeps operating while the system goes in.
