CCTV Upgrades
Analogue-to-IP upgrades for Perth offices and commercial buildings — ageing cameras and tired DVRs replaced with modern IP systems, reusing sound cabling where it makes sense, staged so coverage never drops.
We check every camera, the recorder and the cabling — which cameras are actually recording, which died quietly months ago, and how much of the existing infrastructure is worth keeping.
Modern IP cameras from platforms like AXIS, Hanwha Vision, Hikvision and Uniview replace analogue units running on tired DVRs — sharper images, usable footage, and a recorder that isn’t the weakest link.
Where existing coax runs test sound, converters let IP cameras run over them — avoiding a full recable through occupied ceilings. Where the cable is past it, we say so and quote the recabling honestly.
Coverage stays up during the works. Cameras are swapped in stages so there’s no window where the site is unrecorded — the old system keeps watching until the new one has taken over.
The pattern we keep seeing
Nobody watches CCTV until something happens. That’s the design — and the trap. A camera fails, nobody notices. A hard drive in the DVR stops recording, nobody notices. Then there’s an incident, someone goes to pull the footage, and the discovery isn’t the event — it’s that half the system stopped working sometime in the last year and the recorder has been overwriting nothing.
An upgrade fixes the pictures; the design fixes the silence. Modern IP systems report camera and recording health, so a failure is a maintenance ticket instead of a bad discovery. We’re the team behind Great White Security — WA Security Licence 79960, $20M public liability, 21+ years in the industry — and we design upgrades around the day the footage actually gets asked for.
The honest test: pull up last night’s footage from every camera. Dead cameras, black channels, footage too soft to identify anyone, or a DVR that takes several attempts to export — these are usually discovered the day you actually need the footage. If any of that sounds familiar, it’s time.
Often, yes. Sound coax runs can carry IP cameras via converters, and existing conduit paths make new cable runs far cheaper than starting from scratch. We test what’s there before quoting, so you’re not paying to recable a building that doesn’t need it — or trusting cable that does.
No. We stage the replacement so the old system keeps recording until each new camera is live. At no point during the works is the site unwatched.
Footage on the old recorder can be exported before decommissioning so you meet your retention obligations. The old DVR is then wiped properly — a retired recorder full of footage shouldn’t leave the building as-is.
